Information You Enter
Search Terms
When you type a name, location, or other detail into a partner search box, that query is sent to the third-party provider operating the tool. Kershaw County Inmate Population does not keep its own separate log of those search terms.
Messages
If you email us or send a contact message, we use the information in that message to review and respond. We do not share contact messages outside our organization unless the law requires it.
Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, this site may receive technical details when a page loads, including:
- Your IP address.
- Browser name and version.
- Device type and operating system.
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them.
- The referring website, when one is passed to us.
- Date and time stamps connected with visits.
Cookies
Cookies may be used to understand site traffic and basic visitor behavior. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some site features or partner tools may behave differently after cookies are blocked.
How We Use Information
- To keep the site available, readable, and responsive.
- To send search requests to the correct partner service.
- To understand which Kershaw County jail and court pages visitors use most.
- To diagnose broken links, page errors, and other technical problems.
- To display advertising that may be relevant to visitor interests.
Other Websites
This site links to public jail rosters, sheriff and court pages, SCDC, federal locators, VINELink, and third-party search services. After you leave this site, the privacy policy and data practices of the outside website control your use of that service.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to recognize activity across websites for interest-based ads. That tracking happens through the partner's technology, not through a county or government database on this site.
Who May Receive Information
We do not sell personal information. Information may be available to the following parties when needed to run the site or comply with law:
- Search partners that process submitted queries.
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance.
- Advertising networks that serve ads.
- Law enforcement, courts, or government bodies when a valid legal order requires disclosure.
Security
We use reasonable security practices for a public website, but no internet-connected service can be promised as breach-proof. Any information sent online carries some risk.
Visitors Under 18
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor submitted personal information, contact us so it can be reviewed for deletion.
Your Choices and Rights
- You may ask for a copy of personal information we hold about you.
- You may ask us to correct information that is inaccurate.
- You may request deletion of information we are not required to keep.
- You may object to or opt out of certain processing where applicable law allows it.
